About Us: Smith Engineering is a leading provider of engineering services for vessels in the Aquaculture Industry. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Leading Senior Hand to join our team and support our current operations.
Job Description: We are looking for a dedicated Leading Senior Hand with a strong background in mechanical trades. This is a hands-on role, that will involve some traveling to different ports in the region for boat maintenance. The successful candidate will take on a leadership role, guiding and supporting our team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and supervise a team of mechanical fitters and technicians.

Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily maintenance and repair tasks.

Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
-
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
-
Perform hands-on mechanical work.

Train and mentor apprentices
-
Monitor and report on team performance and project progress.
Requirements:
-
Proven experience as a Leading Hand or similar supervisory role.

Strong mechanical trade background, with a understanding of engines, specifically marine. With relevant qualifications or certifications preferred.

Excellent leadership, communication and team management skills.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Proficiency in mechanical engineering and diagnostics, fabrication and maintenance

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Some basic hydraulic knowledge and welding skills are an advantage.

Good communication, time keeping and interpersonal skills.

Fitter Welder Contractor

About Us: Smith Engineering is a leading provider of engineering services for vessels in the Aquaculture Industry. We are seeking a highly skilled Fitter Welder Contractor for a special project lasting up to 5 months.
Job Description: We are looking for a talented Fitter Welder with proven experience in various welding techniques and fabrication. The successful candidate will be working on a special project that will last up to 5 months, starting mid March
Key Responsibilities:

Perform TIG welding, MIG welding, steel welding, aluminium welding, and flux core welding.

Fabricate and assemble mechanical components and structures.

Perform pipework fabrication and installation.

Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Ensure all work meets quality standards and safety regulations.
Requirements:

Proven experience as a Fitter Welder with a strong background in various welding techniques.

Proficiency in TIG welding, MIG welding, steel welding, aluminium welding, and flux core welding.

Extensive fabrication experience, including pipework.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Strong attention to detail and quality.

Good communication and teamwork skills.
